Active Case Detection

Active Case Detection (ACD) is a proactive strategy to identify and treat malaria cases before they spread. In Botswana, our ACD teams have identified 31 cases, with over 90% being local infections. In South Africa, ACD activities are focused on targeted districts to improve early detection and response.

Our approach includes regular field visits, community health worker involvement, and integration with local health systems to ensure timely and effective case management.

Vector Control

Effective vector control is crucial for reducing malaria transmission. Our initiatives include:

  • Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS): Implemented in key areas, especially in provinces bordering Namibia. IRS campaigns are critical for reducing malaria vectors within households.
  • Larval Source Management (LSM): Targeting breeding sites to control mosquito populations.

Our vector control strategies are supported by advanced technologies and tailored to the specific needs of each region

Laboratory Infrastructure

Improving laboratory capabilities is essential for accurate malaria diagnosis and surveillance. In Botswana, mobile laboratories (porta cabins) have been set up to enhance diagnostic capacity. These labs provide essential services in remote and underserved areas, ensuring that malaria cases are detected and managed promptly.
